Heessen district festival delights over a thousand guests

From 14 to 17 June 2024, the Heessen district festival was celebrated around the Brokhof, organized by the Heessener Freunde and the Heimatverein Heessen. More than a thousand visitors accepted the invitation to enjoy some time out, meet friends and indulge in culinary delights despite the mixed weather.

A feast for all the senses

The opening event on Friday evening was characterized by atmospheric barrel organ music and musical performances by the Rittmann family on the cello and piano. The evening ended punctually before 9 p.m. so that visitors could watch the opening game of the European Football Championship in private.

Diverse program for young and old

The program started on Saturday with the entry of the White Heads and continued on Sunday, the family day. Around 25 exhibitors presented a wide range of products, activities and information at their stands, which was attractive for both young and adult visitors. From sweet treats such as crêpes, cupcakes, roasted almonds and waffles to savory dishes such as gyros, bratwurst and chips - the culinary offerings left nothing to be desired.

Entertainment and information

While the adults learned about decorative cosmetics and the work of the police and fire department, the younger guests were able to put their skills to the test by throwing cans or playing darts. The dance performances by the kids from KiTa St. Josef and the "Fresh" dance group from Studio 31, who presented their choreographies to well-known and rousing songs and were cheered enthusiastically by the audience, were particularly popular.

Musical highlights

Various groups and choirs provided the musical accompaniment. The Rocketeers got the crowd in the mood with their rock sounds, while the Stephanus Choir Kids and the Gospel Choir of the Apostolic International Center delighted the audience with their atmospheric performances. The Heessen brass band also contributed to the musical diversity of the festival.

HEESSEN live painting competition

In line with the cover story of the HEESSEN live magazine, children were able to get creative at our stand and use pen and paper to draw everything in a "Kiepenkerl"'s pannier that the wandering merchant used to offer for sale in other places on his travels. The works of art are available HERE for voting. The five best paintings will be chosen on august 15, 2024 and the artists will each receive a T-shirt, mug or bag with their own photo printed on it.

A successful district festival

The Heessen 2024 district festival offered a varied program and created a good mood and sense of community. The organizers can proudly look back on a successful festival that provided all visitors with unforgettable moments.
